Naval Medical Center Camp Lejeune offers award-winning health care by the most highly qualified primary care managers, specialty physicians, medical staff, and health care personnel in the country.
Our dedicated, multi-disciplinary health care team provides individualized and comprehensive care to all of our beneficiaries by using a combination of traditional medical services, alternative therapies, state-of-the-art technologies and modern drug therapy.
Residing on the largest military installation on the East coast, we serve approximately 150,000 TRICARE-eligible active duty military personnel, retirees and family members.

Visiting a Trauma Center Patient
Base Access
If you or your loved one already has base access to Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune, you may enter any open gate and proceed directly to the Medical Center.
If you are a civilian without base access, you must visit the Wilson Blvd. Visitor Center to gain access to the base.
The following protocol will be utilized when obtaining base access:
- Report to Visitor Center at the Wilson Blvd. Gate to obtain a visitor pass. The Wilson Gate Visitor Center is open Monday-Friday, 5 a.m.- 9 p.m. Please inform the staff that you need to reach your loved one who is being treated as a trauma patient at NMCCL. If you are returning to the base for a follow-up appointment, disclose this information, as well. You will be given a letter with information about the clinic and provider.
- After hours and on weekends, call the NMCCL Security Office (910) 548-2162 for further instruction and use the Holcomb Blvd. Gate.
NOTE: All visitors without installation access will be vetted by the USMC Provost Marshall Office.*
- If you do not have a DOD ID Card (CAC or USID), the Visitor’s Center will ask for: REAL ID, proof of auto insurance, and your vehicle registration.
In absence of a Real ID, one of the following federally approved forms of identification must also be provided in addition to a state issued driver's license or ID:
1. U.S. Passport
2. U.S. Passport Card
3. U.S. Coast Guard Merchant Mariner Card
4. Personal Identity Verification (PIV) Card
5. Personal Identity Verification – Interoperable (PIV-I)
6. U.S. State Department Driver's License
7. Veteran's Health Identification Card (Issued by U.S. Department of Veteran's Affairs
8. U.S. Permanent Resident Card (Form I-551)
9. U.S. Certificate of Naturalization or Certificate of Citizenship (Form N-550)
10. Department of Homeland Security Employment Authorization Document (Form I-766)
If no alternate form of ID is presented, persons requesting access to base must be escorted by a sponsor who meets installation requirements otherwise they will be refused access.
- Once access is granted, the Visitor's Center staff or gate guard will direct you to the medical center. While this is a scary time, we ask that you ensure your own safety, as well as the safety of those around you, by following all posted traffic laws. Please note that seatbelts must be worn at all times and the use of cellular devices is prohibited while driving on base.
*Base Access Processing
The base access process may vary based on the individual situation; as such, please be aware that this process may take a little time. While every attempt will be made to reunite you with your family member or loved one, individuals who screen as a potential risk or threat to the safety of the base will not be issued a visitor’s pass at this time.
