Medical Center Volunteers
Thank you for your interest in volunteering at the Naval Medical Center Camp Lejeune! All the volunteers at the Medical Center are
American Red Cross volunteers, and this web page will help you get started.
The mission of the American Red Cross at Camp Lejeune is two-fold: to provide volunteers to the Naval Medical Center and to deliver Emergency Communications to service members world-wide.
Who can volunteer and how do I sign up?
Anyone who has a valid military ID and is at least 15 years of age may volunteer. If you do not have a military ID, you may volunteer at a local American Red Cross, such as the Onslow County Red Cross in Jacksonville.
All volunteers must first complete American Red Cross Volunteer Orientation conducted on the third Thursday of every month at the Red Cross Main Office at Camp Lejeune. During the class, you will complete your application as well as learn many interesting facts about Red Cross history and its current work around the world. Please call to sign up for the next orientation class.
Teens can get volunteer hours each summer by becoming a Red Cross volunteer through the Summer Youth Program (SYP), held each year during the summer months. This program shows teens how to support their community through service and volunteerism, and is just right for helping teens build up volunteer hours. Applications are available each year toward the end of the school year. A special SYP Orientation is held at the beginning of the summer and is a requirement for participation in the program. A parent or guardian must attend the orientation along with the applicant. Contact the American Red Cross at 910-451-2173 or 910-450-4596 for more information.
American Red Cross MCB Camp Lejeune also offers a Volunteer Dental Assistant Program (DAP). Available to military dependents over the age of 18 and active duty, the DAP is a six-month training program specifically designed to offer participants a way to learn a new skill within their military community. This program is offered twice a year, beginning in September and March. Applications are made available three months prior to the start of each class and are available to American Red Cross registered volunteers. The class consists of two weeks of full-time classroom training, after which participants are assigned to a Dental Clinic at MCB Camp Lejeune or MCAS New River. DAP program participants complete a minimum of 500 chair-side assistant-in-training volunteer hours over the following six months. For more information, please call our Main Office chair-side assistant-in-training volunteer hours over the following six months. For more information, please call our Main Office 910-451-2173 or our Naval Hospital Office 910-450-4596.
