Service members complete physician assistant course, commission as Navy officers

CAMP LEJEUNE, North Carolina — Military medicine’s newest physician assistants received their diplomas and commissioned as officers during a ceremony on March 6, 2026, at Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune.

Navy Medicine Readiness and Training Command Camp Lejeune commemorated the first graduating class of the Emergency Medicine Physician Assistant Fellowship Program. The graduation took place on Dec. 19, 2025, in the MARSOC Room of the Club at Paradise Point on Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune. Pictured left to right: Graduate Medical Education Director Capt. NMRTC Camp Lejeune graduates first class from Emergency Medicine Physician Assistant Fellowship Program

CAMP LEJEUNE, North Carolina — Navy Medicine Readiness and Training Command Camp Lejeune graduated the first fellows from the Emergency Medicine Physician Assistant Fellowship Program. During the ceremony held Dec. 19 at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, Lieutenant Ryan Martzall and Lieutenant Jenny Oliver received certificates of completion for the 18-month program.

Combined Military-Civilian Psychiatry Program Resident commissions as Naval officer

CAMP LEJEUNE, NC — A psychiatry resident in the Combined Military-Civilian Psychiatry Residency Program (CMCPRP) at Naval Medical Center Camp Lejeune is making the move from civilian to military personnel, commissioning as a Naval officer on June 6, 2025.

U.S. Navy Lieutenant Jeff Bazanele assigned to Navy Medicine Readiness and Training Command Camp Lejeune is named Navy Medicine’s Occupational Therapy Officer of the Year for 2024. Bazanele currently oversees the Naval Medical Center Camp Lejeune Occupational Therapy Clinic which serves approximately 6,000 beneficiaries annually.

CAMP LEJEUNE, North Carolina — Navy Medicine Readiness and Training Command Camp Lejeune is celebrating the recognition of one of its providers as Occupational Therapy Officer of the Year for the United States Navy.

Naval Medical Center Camp Lejeune simulation center seeking full accreditation following successful first year training health care workers

CAMP LEJEUNE, North Carolina — The Naval Medical Center Camp Lejeune Healthcare Simulation and Bioskills Center received provisional accreditation though the Society of Simulation and Healthcare in October 2024. Next, the center will prepare for pursuance of full accreditation in 2025.

Expeditionary Medical Forces provide care for partner nation, raises health security and capabilities

TEGUCIGALPA, Honduras — Expeditionary Medical Facility (EMF) Kilo personnel partnered with Joint Task Force-Bravo (JTF) for a Global Health Engagement (GHE) at Hospital Escuela in Tegucigalpa, Honduras, Sept. 14-28, 2024.

Navy Chaplains lead suicide prevention workshops at Camp Lejeune

CAMP LEJEUNE, North Carolina — September is recognized nationally as Suicide Prevention Month and Navy Chaplains at Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune, North Carolina hosted an Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) workshop to train attendees to recognize early warning signs of self-harm/suicidal thoughts and how to intervene.

Upgraded medical, dental clinic opens for Marines and Sailors at Marine Corps Air Station New River

JACKSONVILLE, North Carolina — Marine Corps Air Station New River has a brand new, state-of-the-art medical and dental facility for Marines and Sailors attached to 2nd Marine Air Wing. Naval Medical Center Camp Lejeune celebrated the opening of the new Marine Centered Medical Home (MCMH) New River with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on July 26, 2024.

United States Navy Captain Anja Dabelić makes history at Naval Medical Center Camp Lejeune as the first woman to lead the Medical Center since its establishment as a haven for care some 80 years ago. Dabelić assumed directorship of the facility and command of Navy Medicine Readiness and Training Command (NMRTC) Camp Lejeune on May 21, 2024.
