We are NMCCL: The Call Center- the first line of communication

The first interaction for most patients of Naval Medical Center Camp Lejeune is not commonly with a nurse or doctor, it’s with a person on the other end of the phone. The 14 employees of the Call Center are often the very first encounter the beneficiary has with the medical center. One Call Center employee can average around 80 calls during their shift.

One of Naval Medical Center Camp Lejeune’s pediatricians has been recognized as the latest recipient of the American Academy of Pediatrics Uniformed Services – Chapter East Outstanding Young Pediatrician of the Year Award. U.S. Navy Lieutenant Commander Colleen Lail’s recognition marks the second consecutive year that NMCCL doctor has received the award.

The Coastal North Carolina Market under the Defense Health Agency is now official. On August 25, 2021, a formal establishment ceremony was held for the military medical market which consists of Naval Medical Center Camp Lejeune and Naval Health Clinic Cherry Point.

Naval Medical Center Camp Lejeune’s Radiology Department is setting the standard

With patient satisfaction a top priority, Naval Medical Center Camp Lejeune’s Radiology Department is setting the standard for Navy Medicine radiology clinics. Many specialties within the Radiology Department have received accreditation from the American College of Radiology, and two of NMCCL’s radiologists were recently recognized by the United States Navy Medical Corps for their superior performances.

Camp Lejeune Family Medicine Residency Program graduates 10 residents, 11 interns

On June 25, 2021, Naval Medical Center Camp Lejeune’s Family Medicine Residency Program graduated their 10th class of interns and residents. The graduation took place at Marston Pavilion aboard Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune where 10 residents and 11 interns were able to graduate in front of a live audience, a major change from last year’s strict COVID-19 limitations.

NMCCL doctor serves as team physician for USA Hockey

U.S. Navy Lieutenant Commander Douglas Weiss, who serves as an orthopedic surgeon at NMCCL is also a Team Physician for the men’s USA Hockey Team. From the operating room to the ice hockey rink, Weiss’ desire to serve his country in various roles is evident. What once began as a hobby growing up, Weiss has been instrumental in turning the sport of hockey into a vital element for fostering a liaison between the Navy and USA Hockey.

New ScriptCenter provides additional options for prescription refills

Naval Medical Center Camp Lejeune’s Pharmacy Department will soon have an additional option for beneficiaries to obtain their prescriptions. On May 12, 2021, the Marine Corps Air Station New River Marine Corps Exchange will become the location for an Asteres ScriptCenter automated kiosks and locker system. This new kiosk system is the first of its kind to be used by NMCCL.
