NMCCL’s newest fellowship program will help keep operational forces ready

NMCCL recently received initial accreditation as a fellowship site for Primary Care Sports Medicine by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education. Soon, Navy Medicine physicians will be able to apply for the program, the first of its kind at the medical center.

Naval Medical Center Camp Lejeune hosted a Change of Command and Directorship Ceremony on July 22, 2022 at Marston Pavilion aboard Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune. The Change of Command Ceremony is a formal tradition symbolizing the transfer of total responsibility, authority, and accountability from one officer to another.

Aviation Corpsman helps deliver baby in NMCCL parking lot

Delivering a baby at 3 a.m. in a parking lot was never an experience U.S. Navy Petty Officer Third Class Danielle Murphy thought she would encounter while assigned as an Aviation Hospital Corpsman. On June 3, 2022, while standing administrative duty at Naval Medical Center Camp Lejeune, Murphy assisted in delivering a baby girl.

Naval Medical Center Camp Lejeune’s Family Medicine Residency Program graduated 10 residents and 10 interns during a ceremony aboard Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune on June 24.

Wagging tails and smiling faces: Therapy dogs bring comfort to Medical Center staff

Naval Medical Center Camp Lejeune staff are receiving comfort and support from four-legged friends. For the past several months, Beasley the Basset Hound, has been making her rounds in her Red Cross volunteer vest, providing treats for humans in the form of pets and cuddles.

New clinics bringing health care closer to Marines, Sailors

Active duty service members aboard Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune will soon have closer options for their health care needs. Since 2013, the Defense Health Agency has worked closely with Navy and Marine Corps counterparts to visualize and build Marine Centered Medical Homes (MCMH). These state-of-the-art clinics are scheduled to open throughout the next few years.

We Are NMCCL: Case Management Department

NMCCL currently has 29 case managers within the Case Management Department. They cover a wide variety of internal departments for NMCCL and active duty units throughout Camp Lejeune, including Wounded Warrior Battalion-East and Marine Forces Special Operations Command, making NMCCL Case Management one of the largest case management programs throughout Navy Medicine.

Naval Medical Center Camp Lejeune nurse powerlifts her way to winner’s podium

A Naval Medical Center Camp Lejeune nurse has another title to add to her name – champion powerlifter. U.S. Navy Lieutenant Commander Holly Vickers competed in the United States Powerlifting Association’s Virginia Beach Classic on March 26, taking home the top spot for her weight class.

April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month, and Naval Medical Center Camp Lejeune’s Sexual Assault Prevention and Response team will be promoting awareness with several events throughout the month. The goal is to raise awareness, create and promote a culture free from sexual assault, and help victims by resource sharing.
